Esglesia

Just a few steps from the historic center of La Roca del Vallès, this terraced house built in 1900 —and partially renovated in the 1980s— once again required attention. With two floors and nearly 400 m² of surface area, the building retained its original structure but had accumulated decades of overlapping uses, temporary fixes, and spaces that were no longer functional.

The renovation began with a clear premise: to update the interior without altering either the building’s volume or its dialogue with the urban environment. The goal was not grand gestures, but a respectful, efficient, and lasting transformation. We opted for an intervention that made the most of what already existed, improving layout, thermal and lighting comfort, and incorporating discreet yet effective technical solutions.

The work focused on the 174 m² most significant to the home, involving a complete reorganization of the interior space and a full update in terms of habitability, efficiency, and maintenance. All this was achieved with rigorous budget control and a sustainable approach, both in the selection of materials and in the overall concept of the project.
Beyond regulatory compliance —from municipal planning to the Technical Building Code— this intervention proves that a renovation can be deep without being invasive, and that improving a home is also a way of caring for the everyday landscape of the town.
